Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren Episode 6 - Stepping Forward!

Chuu2Koi Ren brings us the much anticipated step forward in the relationship between Yuuta and Rikka. It may not seem to be that big of a step, but in reality, it's huge - especially for Rikka.

It happened. It finally happened. When they were (obviously) cockblocked the first time under the sheets, I assumed that was all we would be getting this episode which isn't much different from the usual. Then I was full out surprised when Rikka took the initiative herself and went up a smooched Yuuta on the cheek. Now, it may be a kiss on the cheek to most people, but for them (especially Rikka), it was a huge step forward.

The whole time, Yuuta was being considerate by not fawning over Rikka (not like he'd do much anyways lol) since he knew the whole relationship being publicized was embarrassing for her. That didn't stop Rikka from thinking that she's the one holding the relationship back. She mentioned she wasn't running away or avoiding him while they were under the blanket when they were disrupted which shows that, in reality, she's very conscientious of her actions.

The episode pulled it off in a fantastic way by making us viewers (who at this point probably weren't expecting too much under that blanket) think that it was the usual routine, and just when we let our guards down they threw an actual kiss in the perfect scenario. The way she hopped away afterwards was extremely cute as well. At the end of this episode, it doesn't seem much changed though, but then again they're both about to embark on their own personal date.

There were plenty of funny and amusing moments this episode as well. There was Dekomori almost dying, then suddenly going over to Yuuta's apartment to vent to the imouto (I wonder what that website was...was it referring to Nibutani's website thingy?), Isshiki being Isshiki and getting caught (total LOL), and even Rikka attacking Nibutani. Oh, don't forget Nibutani's frequent chuunibyou moments have been surfacing. She went into her zone without even realizing her friends were beside her.

I definitely can't wait for the next episode just to see what events will unfold. All this light-heartedness mixed with slow, but subtle, developments between Rikka and Yuuta will probably last for awhile. Serious drama should happen around the last 3 or 4 episodes.

P.S. I liked how they brought up Nibutani's love life and how they thought she and Yuuta were a thing. As much as I like Rikka, I would love to Nibutani show/develop feelings for Yuuta (imagine her being the final boss! The DARK MORI SUMMER MWAHAAHA okay sorry).
