Helloooo! Tadashi here and today I'll be talking about the 10th episode of Shingeki no Kyojin which delivered a very slow episode but it was still good enough to watch.
The episode continues from last episode where Eren transformed into a titan to protect Mikasa and Armin. It turns out as long as he wakes up, he's able to leave the titan unharmed. It also seems that depending on Eren's mindset, the titan can take on a different form. In this case, Eren only focused on protecting Mkasa and Eren which resulted in this incomplete titan that was enough to shield them. Also, when turning into a titan, it seems to take a great toll on Eren.
Anyways, they decided to talk it out while the smoke was still lingering. Eren came up with two plans: Go titan mode and escape or have Armin convince them that Eren isn't a threat.
This whole time Armin thought he was utterly useless and was always holding them back. Here he learned that it was only himself thinking that. Eren (and Mikasa) full trust Armin and have always trusted him. He just never understood that. Armin agreed to convince the army that Eren was no threat (although he was still shitting his pants).
The speech he gave was loud and had their lives on the line. It was the greatest speech (the one from Maoyuu Maou Yuusha comes to mind when I think great) but it still managed to get the soldiers thinking. The captain whom he was trying to explain it to had already lost his ability to reason and was acting on fear. If it wasn't for Commander Pixis showing up, they would have been shot at and killed.
Good thing Commander Pixis is someone who thinks rationally. He doesn't take Eren's word about the basement holding answers but gives him a chance to prove that he's not a threat. He gives Eren the choice of "Will you or will you not do it" and Eren obviously chose to do it - to protect the town and help regain the wall.
Overall we got a super slow episode. They only showed like, less than 5 different settings haha. The smokescreen lasted forever! It was only supposed to last 15 seconds but it took up like half the episode lol. We didn't get any action but next episode we'll be able to see Eren fight titan-to-titan.
