Devil Survivor 2 Episode 4 - And That Was Day 2

Sup guys! Today I'll be talking about the 4th episode of Devil Survivor 2 which delivers the conclusion of "Merak" the Septemptrions attacking the city.

This episode continues with the attack on the city. All of the available summoners are sent out to try and have some sort of effect on this massive enemy named Merak. Obviously they stood no chance and didn't even leave a scratch on it as it blazed through the city destroying things left and right.

The elected Hibiki to be the last line of defense which was pretty puzzling but it only made him want to go out and fight. He was stuck at the very end and for someone who said he wouldn't let people die anymore and that he would use his power to save people, this didn't sit too well with him. He chose to disobey orders and went straight to the battlefield. This turned out to be an extremely costly move...

Sure, if I was him, I'd be mad too. I probably would have went to the battlefield as well if I knew I had that kind of power but in his case, he got to see first hand what he caused. Every single summoner in the area threw themselves in the way of an attack in order to protect Byakko and Hibiki. Even Hinako jumped in the way. I thought she died but according to the end, she's alive.
I don't think I could stand them killing of another supporting member of the cast. Keita was already shocking enough.

This guy also makes his appearance. His name is The Anguished One or something like that and he manages to help push our MC to come to a decision. But what is his motive? He seems super fishy, along with his friend Yamato. What are they planning to do? Defeating the 6 bad guys clearly isn't the ultimate goal.

The episode wouldn't be complete unless we had Byakko going apeshit. We didn't just get Byakko going beast with his new red aura and more powerful form, but Nitta got her own OP demon named Kikuri-Hime. Now it's just Daichi who's useless lol. I have a feeling he's going to get his rightful power up soon and these three will definitely be a very important factor in these battles.
Together they managed to defeat Marek but something very interesting happened at the end.

After the smoke cleared up, Hibiki was approached by Ronaldo who's the guy who doesn't like Yamato's plans. He convinces Hibiki to go with him which means Hibiki has defected from the original group. I can only imagine the reactions of everyone. I have a feeling Yamato already knows what happened.

So far, I've really been enjoying this show. It could definitely use more development in a lot of areas but the action is there and it's quite enjoyable. I'm really looking forward to the plot developing as well as the hidden real plan that the suspicious Yamato and The Anguished One as well as Ronaldo are planning.

Judging from the preview, it looks like Hibiki comes back but fights with a new demon, Cerebrus. I'm really interested in seeing how everything plays out next episode.

See you guys next episode!
